Captain Sir Edward Pellew's 'Nymphe' boards and takes the 'Cleopatra', 18 June 1793
A swift study drawing inscribed in pencil 'Cap Sr Ed Pellew La Nymphe Boards & takes the Cleopatra'. The action on 18 June 1793 was the first single ship duel and capture of the French Revolutionary War. The drawing appears to relate to a print by Pocock of this action (PAI6361), which he also illustrated in the 'Naval Chronicle'. See also PAD8716 and 8718.
