The Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Broomdale (1937) under way entering Grand Harbour, Malta.
A starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Broomdale (1937) under way entering Grand Harbour, Malta. She has a replenishment at sea gantry fitted amidships; it was fitted in late 1944 and she was the first oiler to be so fitted. Her wartime gun tubs are still in position but the guns have been removed and so have her chipchase rafts. It is possible this photograph was taken during the time that Captain Emil Edward Sigwart was her master (16 July 1948 to 10 July 1949). A copy negative of a photographic print.
