Duckworth's action at San Domingo, 6 February 1806; a flag sketch
This is a preparatory drawing for the large oil painting (NMM BHC0571) of Sir John Thomas Duckworth's victory off San Domingo, which formed a somewhat overlooked postscript to Trafalgar in destroying French naval power in the West Indies. It is not the final composition but a sketch in which Pocock has coloured in the various flags for reference purposes. PAD8818 and PAD8819 are sketch plans of the action.
