On board the boom defence vessel Barbain (1940) working off Sembawang, Singapore. The photographer is looking aft from the bow showing hauling in wires being led through horizontal guides to the 10 ton winch control room. Dan buoys are in the port and starboard shrouds of the mast. Liferings and the ship's crest are mounted on the face of the superstructure. Negatives numbers P99801 to P99847 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
