The land reclamation site at lower Shakespeare Cliff, Kent, during the early stages of the construction of the Channel Tunnel

Looking down and to the west-south-west from the top of Shakespeare Cliff, Dover, showing the land reclamation works at the foot of the cliff using the spoil from the Channel Tunnel. This area is now (2018) the Samphire Hoe Country Park and was created by using 4.9 million cubic metres of chalk marl from the Channel Tunnel excavations. Folkestone is in the distance.
