Frame made of rope tied into sailor’s knots in a decorative pattern around a photograph of a ship ‘Loch Gowan’
Wide brown and white knotwork frame around a photograph of a boat with a label stating 'Loch Gowan' made by 1980s-style labelmaker. The frame features interlocking knots and panels glued together, with bits of glue visible. At the back of the frame, there is a hanging component at the top of frame. A variety of knots were used in different tiers and framing registers.
Cutbrush, a long-serving member of the merchant navy, was well-known for his ability to make knots. This piece is a particularly striking example of his skill.
