A close view of the bridge, mast and funnel of the frigate Morecambe Bay (1944) dried out in No. 4 dry dock, Itchen Quay, Southampton, undergoing a refit. The photographer is standing on the dockside looking forward and to starboard from abreast the forecastle break showing scaffolding erected over the port single 40mm bofors gun and a canvas cover over the funnel cap. She was sold to Portugal 9 May 1961 and was refitted by John I Thornycroft before commissioning at Southampton on 3 August 1961 as the Dom Francisco de Almeida. Negatives numbers PM7471/33A to PM7471/36A inclusive and PM7705/37A were taken on the same day.
