A close view of the forward twin 4 inch gun mount and the bridge of the frigate Morecambe Bay (1944) dried out in No. 4 dry dock, Itchen Quay, Southampton, undergoing a refit. The photographer is standing on the dockside looking aft and to starboard from abreast the bow showing scaffolding erected over the port single 40mm bofors gun. Her pendant number is F624. She was sold to Portugal 9 May 1961 and was refitted by John I Thornycroft before commissioning at Southampton on 3 August 1961 as the Dom Francisco de Almeida. Negatives numbers PM7471/33A to PM7471/36A inclusive and PM7705/37A were taken on the same day.
