On board the ocean weather ship Weather Reporter (1944) on station in the North Atlantic. The photographer is in the balloon hangar looking aft over the transom during heavy weather. A meteorological assistant is in the hangar ready to launch a weather balloon and a following sea is about to wash over the transom. Note the balloon filling gas cylinders in a rack against the starboard side of the hangar. A vertical format negative.
