On board the ocean weather ship Weather Reporter (1944) on station in the North Atlantic. The photographer is looking aft from 70 feet up on the foremast showing the port quarter of the ship awash in the running sea when the ship rolls to port. The canvas cover of the starboard whaler is missing. Note the stowage racks for the weather balloon gas bottles on deck abaft the mainmast. The two single 40mm bofors guns ahead of the mainmast are cocooned. A vertical format negative.
