On board the Royal Navy light cruiser Tiger (1945) looking ahead from the bridge as she is under way in Cromarty Firth heading out into the North Sea at the commencement of NATO exercise Flat Rock. On the left are the replenishment ships Wave Knight (1945) and Tidepool (1962) at anchor. A line of four escorts are preceding the Tiger (1945) to sea. Vice-Admiral Frank R Twiss was on board the Tiger commanding a fleet of 46 ships drawn from six NATO nations for the exercise which took place in the waters off Cape Wrath and Loch Ewe between 16 and 24 October 1963.
