On board the coastal minelayer Plover (1937) under way during a minelaying exercise in Stokes Bay, The Solent. The photographer is on the starboard side of the minelaying deck looking forward showing exercise ground mines on the inboard rails and sand filled dummy moored mines on sinkers on the outboard rails. The ground mines are numbered 17 and 19 and printed on them is '44 day clock (A)WBNS 5.62'. A vertical format negative.
