On board the coastal minelayer Plover (1937) under way during a minelaying exercise in Stokes Bay, The Solent. The photographer is on the starboard side of the forecastle deck aft, looking forward and slightly to port showing the motor pinnace, the accommodation ladder, the funnel and the wheelhouse. A hose is rigged up against the starboard guardrails spraying water across the deck.
