On board the Royal Navy coastal minelayer Plover (1937) under way in the Solent bound in for Portsmouth Dockyard. The photographer is on the starboard side of the bridge deck looking aft and slightly to port showing a military band, possibly the Royal Hampshire Regiment, playing on the forecastle deck amidships. The bandmaster is wearing battledress. The ship's funnel with its Hampshire rose emblem is on the right.
