On board the Royal Navy type 12 frigate Falmouth (1959) alongside a wharf at Santander, Spain. The photographer is looking forward from the starboard side just abaft the 4.5 inch gun turret. The ship has arrived for a courtesy visit after her participation in the NATO exercise Riptide III in the Atlantic west of Gibraltar. A rake of ventilated railway freight wagons is on the quayside in front of a large warehouse which has eight domed roofs and has the name Solvay & Co on the front. A row of quayside cranes is in the distance.
