On board the Royal Navy coastal minesweeper Thames (1953) when under way leaving the basin at Den Helder, the Netherlands. The photographer is on the port side amidships looking aft showing the port side of the sweep deck with all equipment covered with canvas. She is leaving Den Helder to return to Southampton after taking part with other Ton class units in the joint RN/RNR live minesweeping exercise Cableway in Dutch coastal waters. Berthed against the basin wall are a motor trawler and the Netherlands Navy survey ship Zeefakkel (1950).
