The photographer is on board the Royal Navy coastal minesweeper Thames (1953) looking aft from the port side amidships showing the port side of the sweep deck with all equipment under canvas covers. The Thames is bound out from Den Helder to return to Southampton after taking part with other Ton class units in the joint RN/RNR live minesweeping exercise Cableway in Dutch coastal waters.
