On board the Royal Navy coastal minesweeper Thames (1953) under way in the River Test bound in for Berth 50 in Southampton Docks. The photographer is on the port side of the open bridge looking forward showing two Royal Naval Reserve officers and a rating on the forecastle as the ship approaches the static drill ship Wessex (1940) alongside Berth 50. The ship is nearing the end of her passage from Den Helder to Southampton after taking part with other Ton class units in the joint RN/RNR live minesweeping exercise Cableway in Dutch coastal waters.
