On board the Royal Navy coastal minesweeper Thames (1953) under way in the River Test coming alongside the RNR drillship Wessex (1940) at Berth 50 in Southampton Docks. The photographer is on the starboard side of the lattice mast looking aft showing the covered equipment of the starboard side of the sweep deck. The 10 on her funnel indicates she is a unit of the 10th Mine Counter Measures Squadron. The ship is at the end of her passage from Den Helder to Southampton after taking part with other Ton class units in the joint RN/RNR live minesweeping exercise Cableway in Dutch coastal waters.
