Ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water for racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia.
Ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water for racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia. The photographer is looking down from the promenade deck on the starboard side aft showing two ten-oared lifeboats, with a third out of frame, being towed by a ship's motor lifeboat. The boats are being towed to the start for a rowing race with ship's seamen and passengers at the oars, four oars per side. As the boats are being towed, oars are tossed, being held vertical. Uniformed crewmen are in the bow and at the tiller of each boat. A vertical format negative.
