Ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water for racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia. The photographer is looking down from the promenade deck on the starboard side aft showing three ten-oared lifeboats and a motor lifeboat alongside the accommodation ladder preparing for a race. The crews of the rowing boats are a mix of passengers and crew members. The crew members are in the bow and at the tiller of each boat and are in uniform. The passengers are wearing a mix of paper hats. the motor lifeboat will be used to tow the other three boats to the start line and a couple of photographers are on board to record the race.
