Ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water for racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia.
Ship's lifeboats from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water for racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia. The photographer is looking from the promenade deck on the starboard side aft showing three ten-oared lifeboats racing with a motor lifeboat in the foreground following the progress of the race. The racing boats are using eight oars double banked and have a mixed crew of seamen in uniform at the bow and stern of each boat and the oars people are passengers wearing a variety of paper hats. The boat on the right is working well but the other two boats do not have their oars in unison.
