A ship's lifeboat from the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) in the water at the end of racing at Korcula, Yugoslavia. The ten-oared lifeboat number 9 is returning to the ship after the race. The boat is crewed by a mix of seamen and passengers. The seamen are in uniform with two in the bow and one at the helm. The passengers are using eight double banked oars and are somewhat out of stroke. They are all wearing paper hats. The photographer is on board the escorting motor lifeboat. A church is on the hillside in the background.
