The photographer is being transferred by hi-line to the dock landing ship Donner (1945) LSD 20 from the Monrovia (1942) and is looking aft and to port while suspended between the two ships. The Monrovia's LCMs PA31-15 and PA31-8 are swung out under their davits. Everything forward of the midship davits is out of the picture.
