A starboard near broadside view, taken from just abaft the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orcades (1937) anchored at an unknown location. She has her starboard anchor deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged at the aft shell door. A boat is at the foot of the ladder. The photographer is on board one of the ship's lifeboats looking forward towards the ship and in the foreground one of the boat's crew has a foot on the gunwhale and is holding a boat hook.
