On board the Royal Navy riverine gunboat Skull (1963) (former LCA) during a patrol near Kuching, Sarawak. The photographer is on the starboard side looking forward from aft. A lifering is fitted to the makeshift mast and RN1 is painted on the cabin roof. The gunboat is crewed by men from Naval Party Kilo and one of them is standing on the deck looking at a village on the riverbank. This was during the Indonesian confrontation which ran from 20 January 1963 to 11 August 1966. The negative is stained at the top.
