On board the Royal Navy riverine gunboat Skull (1963) (former LCA) on patrol near Kuching, Sarawak

On board the Royal Navy riverine gunboat Skull (1963) (former LCA) while on a visit to a local village during a patrol near Kuching, Sarawak. The photographer is forward looking aft at the lifering which has the boat's unofficial crest and is mounted on the makeshift foremast. The names on the lifering are SKULL and L.C.A. 119. The original LCA 119 was built in 1940 and was reported lost in July 1941 in Home Waters. The history of this LCA 119 cannot be traced. The gunboat is crewed by men from Naval Party Kilo. This was during the Indonesian confrontation which ran from 20 January 1963 to 11 August 1966.
