On board the Royal Navy riverine gunboat Skull (1963) (former LCA) during a patrol near Kuching, Sarawak. In the foreground on the side of the gunboat is the barrel and tripod of a 0.303 inch bren machine gun. The gunboat is crewed by men from Naval Party Kilo. Two small steam or motor craft are approaching on the river. This was during the Indonesian confrontation which ran from 20 January 1963 to 11 August 1966.
