On board the Royal Navy riverine gunboat Skull (1963) (former LCA) during a patrol near Kuching, Sarawak. The gunboat is crewed by men from Naval Party Kilo and one of the crew holding a Sterling L2A3 sub machine gun, wearing beach shorts, khaki shirt, sandals and a jungle hat, is standing by the cabin keeping a watchful eye on a native boat which is being searched close alongside. The local boat is carrying rolls of wire mesh and passengers. This was during the Indonesian confrontation which ran from 20 January 1963 to 11 August 1966.
