Inside a long house occupied by 845 Naval Air Squadron at Nanga Gaat, Sarawak

Inside a bamboo long house on the 845 Naval Air Squadron base at Nanga Gaat. Nanga Gaat is at the confluence of the Sungai Gaat and the Batang Baleh, Sarawak. A member of the squadron is sitting at a table reading. The table has been built round a timber pole supporting the roof. Nanga Gaat was used as an advanced base for an infantry battalion as well as for the Fleet Air Arm during the Indonesian confrontation which ran from 20 January 1963 to 11 August 1966.
