On board the United States Navy guided missile destroyer Claude V Ricketts (1960) while under way in mid Atlantic. The photographer is on the starboard side of 01 deck abreast the forefunnel looking aft showing seamen from different nations hauling on a line during the transfer of personnel between the destroyer and the aircraft carrier Saratoga (1955). The men are in normal working gear but they are all wearing lifejackets. The Asroc launcher is in the foreground. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment.
