On board the United States Navy guided missile destroyer Claude V Ricketts (1960) replenishing from the aircraft carrier Saratoga (1955) while under way in mid Atlantic. The photographer is on the port side of 01 deck by the side of the bridge looking to port showing the starboard side of the carrier in way of the forward elevators. The hangar side doors are open, so it is possible to see right through the ship. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment.
