On board the United States Navy guided missile destroyer Claude V Ricketts (1960) during a replenishment serial with the aircraft carrier Saratoga (1955) while under way in mid Atlantic. The photographer is on the starboard side of 1 deck of the destroyer looking aft showing a line of men of six nations hauling on a line to pull the fuel hose inboard. The men are wearing lifejackets. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment. The aft 5 inch gun turret and the twin Tartar missile lauched are on the right.
