The photographer is standing at the bow at 1 deck level looking aft showing the forward 5 inch dual purpose gun, the superstructure and the mast. The crew of the destroyer consisted of 10 officers and 164 crew from the US Navy with the rest of the complement being from West Germany, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Turkey as a mixed manning experiment.
