On board the Royal Navy Type 15 frigate Ursa (1943) of the 8th Frigate Squadron (West Indies) while under way in West Indies waters during exercises involving the 7th Frigate Squadron (South Atlantic) and the 8th Frigate Squadron (West Indies). The photographer is to starboard of the centreline on 01 deck at station 36½ looking aft and to port showing the twin Mark V 40 mm bofors gun mounting firing to port with the gun's crew at action stations wearing anti-flash gear and steel helmets. Above the open bridge is the mast supporting the type 277Q air search radar aerial.
