A port side view of the Type 81 frigate Tartar (1960) leaving Bridgetown harbour, Barbados.
A distant port side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the Royal Navy type 81 frigate Tartar (1960) under way leaving Bridgetown harbour, Barbados. Her pendant number is F133 and she is a unit of the 8th Frigate Squadron (West Indies). A local tug is close to her port quarter, presumably to take off the harbour pilot. The photographer is on board the Royal Navy Type 41 frigate Lynx (1955) of the 7th Frigate Squadron (South Atlantic), looking aft and to starboard across a pier from the port side of 1 deck near the aft 4.5 inch gun turret. The 4.5 inch gun barrels of the turret are on the left. The ships are about to embark on an exercise involving both the 7th and 8th Frigate Squadrons.
