A distant port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of a Soviet Navy Riga class frigate, possibly numbered 764, under way in the Norwegian Sea off the northern coast of Norway shadowing the NATO exercise Polar Express. She is one of two of these vessels that were used to shadow the exercise. The photographer is on board the Royal Navy commando carrier Bulwark (1948) looking aft and to starboard from the island. In the right foreground are the barrels of her starboard aft twin Mark V 40 mm bofors gun mounting.
