The photographer is on the starboard side of the forward superstructure looking aft and to starboard showing the bridge superstructure, foremast and fore funnel of the Royal Navy destroyer Diana (1952) steaming close alongside to take on bunkers. The pendant number of the destroyer is D126 and a board fixed to her bridge reads "Welcome alongside. You are the 15th ship alongside this commission and we are the bestest damn destroyer.".
