The Royal Fleet Auxiliary fleet replenishment ships Olna (1965) and Resource (1966) and the Royal Navy aircraft carrier Eagle (1946) under way in the English Channel during the NATO exercise Peacekeeper.
The photographer is on the starboard side of the helicopter flight deck of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary fleet replenishment ship Olna (1965) during a vertrep (vertical replenishment) and refuelling serial while under way in the English Channel participating in the NATO exercise Peacekeeper. To port are the Royal Navy aircraft carrier Eagle (1946) with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary fleet replenishment ship Resource (1966) beyond her. The Westland Wessex HU.5 helicopter XT484, coded 469/RS, from the Resource (1966) is hovering above the flight deck of the Eagle having just delivered an underslung load of three oil drums. Only the aft end of the upper hull and flight deck of the Eagle (1946), including the quadruple Seacat missile launcher and the two 4.5 inch gun turrets, and the funnel and aft superstructure of the Resource (1966) are in the picture.
