A single-masted Ningpo Passenger Junk underway.
A starboard side view, just forward of the broadside of a single-masted Ningpo passenger junk underway with its leeboard down. The vessel is extremely heavily loaded with passengers (at least 50 people). Amidships is a low deckhouse, with bound bales loaded on top. The foredeck is full of people and belongings.
In the background to the left is a factory building with single chimney issuing smoke. To the right is a large single-storey building, in front of which are other vessels, including a small sampan being propelled by a single figure.
Both the accompanying contact print and the original negative envelope were labelled: 'Ningpo Passenger Junk'.
