The photographer is on the port side of the island superstructure looking forward showing a Hawker-Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 aircraft climbing away after her catapult launch. This is probably XV345, coded 103/E, of 800 Naval Air Squadron. Parked with wings folded on the starboard forward end of the flight deck is the Fairey Gannet AS.4 aircraft XA430, coded 072/E, of 849D Flight.
