Passenger liner(1885); Emigrant vessel
One of the two turned wood pillars for the contemporary full hull model of a steam-powered passenger liner (circa 1885), built in ‘bread and butter’ construction in the builder’s style. The screw that connects the pillar to the model would have passed through the baseboard first. The pillar was originally adhered to the model, so the screw was used to attach the model and pillar to the baseboard. Pictures and measurements for the baseboard exist on mimsy, but the whereabouts of the baseboard is not known.
