On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) while under way in the Firth of Forth

On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) prior to her race with the destroyer Cavalier (1944) competing for the trophy of the 'Fastest Ship in the Fleet'. The photographer is on the aft end of 1 deck looking forward and slightly to starboard showing the aft superstructure, the masts, the funnel and her motor boat. She is serving as a seagoing training ship for engine room artificer apprentices from HMS Caledonia at Rosyth and her twin 4 inch guns, the director and her limbo mortars have been removed.
