On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) while under way racing against the destroyer Cavalier (1944) in the Firth of Forth. The photographer is on the starboard side of the open bridge at 01 deck level looking to port showing the ship's commanding officer, Lieutenant-commander M J Jones RN, talking to a Royal Marine officer. The Cavalier (1944) is to port and the ships are racing to determine which of them can claim the trophy for the 'Fastest Ship in the Fleet'.
