On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) while under way racing against the destroyer Cavalier (1944) in the Firth of Forth. The photographer is on the starboard side of the open bridge at 01 deck level looking aft showing liferafts, the base of the foremast, the funnel and signalling projectors. The ships were racing to win the trophy for 'The Fastest Ship in the Fleet'.
