On board the Royal Navy frigate Rapid (1942) at Kristiansund, Norway, during the Maritime Air Defence Exercise Highwood which took place in the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea. The frigate is under way and the photographer is on 1 deck aft of the former Squid mortar well looking aft and to port. A long quay with small boats alongside is in the background and a 12 or 13 storey building is beyond the quay. On the right is a large cargo ship equipped with deck cranes and a small motor coaster, believed to be the Vaka (1908), formerly named Oster.
