Moored sampans in Hong Kong Harbour off Murray Pier, Kowloon. In the middle distance is a four-masted schooner at anchor with the receiving ship HMS Tamar (1863) in the background. In the distance in the centre is an unidentified battleship and to the right is either HMS Centurion (1892) or Barfleur (1892), both Centurion-class, second class battleships.

The original negative envelope was labelled: 'Sampans Murray Pier Hong Kong, 1901'.
