On board the sail training brig Royalist (1971) under sail during a training cruise off the Isle of Wight in the last quarter of 1973. The photographer is on the port side of the deck near the foot of the mainmast looking up at crew members standing on footropes furling the main course while the mainyard is hauled round to starboard. The spanker has been furled.
