On board the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) during the launching of a tender from the forward well deck in Norwegian waters. The photographer is looking forward, down and to port from the face of the forward superstructure showing one of the ship's tenders over the port side being lowered by the derrick on the foremast. Lifeboat number 2 is under a canvas cover in its davits. The launching is being watched by passengers standing on the fore end of the promenade deck.
