A distant view of some of the warships involved in the NATO exercise Deep Furrow, an amphibious landing in north-west Turkey involving forces from the United States of America, United Kingdom, Italy, Greece and Turkey, in the Eastern Mediterranean. The aircraft carrier on the horizon is the U.S.S. Independence (1958). The photographer is on board the Royal Navy commando carrier Bulwark (1948). Negatives numbers PM8001/29, PM8001/30, PM8001/31 and PM8001/32 are similar.
